If you struggle with arthritis, chances are you’ve been to plenty of mattress stores to find the perfect mattress for a better night’s sleep. While you will find plenty of advice on choosing the right mattress when you have arthritis, you probably still have questions.
The problem with trying to find the perfect mattress when you have arthritis is that each person with arthritis is different. One person may feel great after sleeping on an extremely firm mattress, while another loves a soft, cushy bed to sleep on. In addition, the position you sleep in, the pillows you use, and how much room you have will all play a part in you getting a good night’s sleep.
A supportive mattress doesn’t mean a mattress that has no give. In fact, a supportive mattress for someone with arthritis is one that reduces the pressure placed on the joints where you have sensitivity. People with significant arthritis generally need a softer bed that will reduce pressure points.
Although a mattress may need to be soft, stability is also a factor. You don’t want the bed to be too soft or you will get stuck in the same position most of the night. This will lead to stiffness that you don’t need when you are suffering from arthritis.
The only way to know if a mattress is going to be comfortable to you is to try it out. When you visit mattress stores, it’s important to test the mattress to see if it is comfortable for you. Some mattress stores will allow you to try new mattresses at home for a number of days, giving you time to return the mattress if you aren’t satisfied with the comfort.
When you have arthritis, it’s important to try out a variety of pillows as well. Make sure that your neck is properly supported while you sleep. If you have issues with your hips or knees, a pillow placed between your knees can make a big difference.
You can also try using a mattress topper if you don’t feel that your mattress is soft enough. No matter what, take the time to make a decision when you are visiting mattress stores in Sacramento. When it comes to your nighttime comfort, you can’t be too cautious. Buying a mattress is a commitment, and you need to find one that’s perfect.
